Tim Scott Tells Newsmax He Has ‘No Doubt’ RFK Jr. Will ‘Bleed Votes From the Democrats’ to Trump’s Advantage

Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC) told Newsmax host Eric Bolling on Wednesday that he had “no doubt” independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. would “bleed votes from the Democrats” to former President Donald Trump’s advantage in 2024.

After Kennedy picked Nicole Shanahan, the former wife of Google co-founder Sergey Brin, to be his running mate this week, Bolling asked Scott, “Doesn’t this help Donald Trump in the general election because he chose someone who would be more appealing to the Democrats certainly than Republicans?”

“Oh, no doubt,” replied Scott:

Well here’s what I know for sure, we need four more years of Donald Trump, and the way we get there is very important. What we do realize is having that third party candidate on the ballot, no matter the choice for vice president, is gonna bleed votes from the Democrats. That’s why they are scurrying around running ads in Detroit trying to keep Black voters in Detroit loyal to the Democrat Party. It’s just not working. It’s why President Donald Trump has a 50 state strategy. He wants us campaigning in Detroit and in Chicago and Minneapolis and Cleveland, and of course in the rural parts of our country. What he wants is a unified country where people who work hard, they’re the ones that get lucky.

During the interview, Scott also criticized Kennedy for picking Shanahan as his running mate, calling her a “died-in-the-wool liberal” who wants “a redistribution of wealth.”

Kennedy officially announced Shanahan as his 2024 running mate on Tuesday, ten days after Mediaite exclusively reported that Shanahan had been selected.

Following the news, Trump attacked both Kennedy and Shanahan in a Truth Social post on Wednesday, calling Kennedy “the most Radical Left Candidate in the race, by far,” and “a big fan of the Green New Scam, and other economy killing disasters.”

Trump wrote:

His running mate, Nicole Shanahan, is even more ‘Liberal’ than him, if that’s possible. Kennedy is a Radical Left Democrat, and always will be!!! It’s great for MAGA, but the Communists will make it very hard for him to get on the Ballot. Expect him, and her, to be indicted any day now, probably for Environmental Fraud! He is Crooked Joe Biden’s Political Opponent, not mine. I love that he is running!
