Sharon Kay Sedlacek, 82, of Cedar Rapids, passed away, February 22, 2024. Visitation: 4 - 6 PM, Tuesday, February 27, 2024, at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home and 9-10 AM, Wednesday, February 28, 2024, at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids. Mass of Christian Burial: 10:00 AM, Wednesday, February 28, 2024, at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids. Interment: St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Fairfax, Iowa.
Sharon was born to Ruth and Ed on May 27, 1941, in Moline, Illinois. After graduation from Jefferson High School, she married her high school sweetheart, John Sedlacek, on June 20, 1959, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Fairfax, Iowa. They were married almost 60 years when he preceded her in death on March 4, 2019.
She loved being a wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She enjoyed babysitting for all of them. They were the joy of her life.
Most of her life she was a homemaker, but also worked part time as a cashier at Osco Drug and retiring at Drug Town. She was a member of St. Patrick’s Church and Mercy Auxiliary. Sharon was noted for being a card sender to let everyone know she was always thinking about them because she couldn’t always be there.
She is survived by 2 daughters, Lori of Utah and Debbie of Tiffin; 4 grandchildren, Jacob (Jenny) of Fairfax, Kelsey of Cedar Rapids, Elijah (Kelly) of New Jersey, and Jonah of New York; 5 great grandchildren Mason, Cole, and Aubree of Fairfax, Leah of New Jersey, and Kingston of Cedar Rapids. Also surviving are her sister Deanna of Marion and her brother Gary (Debbie) of Cedar Rapids and many nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband, she was also preceded in death by her parents, parents-in-law (Wesley and Helen), brother-in-law (Lyle), and her beloved feline (Boots).
