A man accused of trying to kidnap a child in Providence appeared in court Tuesday morning for the second time to face a kidnapping charge.

Marc Pierre, 45, made his first court appearance last week in Fall River -- where he was arrested -- visibly emotional and claiming they had the wrong guy.

Tuesday, after being sent back to Rhode Island, a judge in Providence ordered him held without bail.

Pierre stood before the judge in handcuffs officially charged with kidnapping a person under 16.

Last week, in Fall River court he laughed as the prosecution read the facts of the case.

Tuesday, they waived the reading of the facts, so we don’t have any more details about what happened.

Prosecutors said Pierre was wearing a ski mask when he attempted to kidnap a child at her bus stop.

The girl fought back and ran to a nearby store, where she called her mother, who then called Providence police.

People who witnessed the incident recognized Pierre as the suspect.

Pierre last week was visibly upset leaving the courtroom, yelling that they were lying.

Tuesday, he remained quiet, answering the few questions from the judge with one-word answers.

Pierre is due back in court later this month.
