LUCKNOW: Father of three, Akhilesh Chauhan (50) a heavy-duty equipment mechanic and supervisor, working with a private construction company at Rongdik bridge on NH-217 under Siju police limits of South Garo hills, Meghalaya was allegedly abducted last night from a construction site.
The construction site is nearly 10 km away from the India-Bangladesh border.
Information about his abduction was shared to his family earlier in the morning.
Sheela Singh, wife of Akhilesh said, “Earlier in the morning, an acquaintance of the construction company owner reached to me and informed me about the incident which happened last night. I appeal to UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Kongkal Sangma and the Governor Phagu Chauhan to help bring back my husband safely.”
Akhilesh hails from Ghazipur district, but lives with his children Suraj (17), Surya (14) and Pari (9) and wife at rented accommodation in Phoolbagh colony of Gudamba police limits of Lucknow.

He had been working in Meghalaya for the last three years.
Speaking to TOI, superintendent of police Baghmara, Shailendra Bamania said, "The company manager informed us that around 1:40 am few unidentified men came at the construction site and started knocking the makeshift tent door and enquired about availability of diesel. When Akhilesh went out to check, he was allegedly abducted. Our men are searching for him in the jungle. Soon we would recover him and apprehend the men who abducted him."

By the time this report was filed, a massive combing operation was launched in the forest area of Siju police limits to bring back Akhilesh.
R K Singh, the construction company owner, informed TOI over phone from Siju, that local police are making every possible effort to recover Akhilesh.
Sources claimed that local miscreant elements kidnap workers from construction sites to extort ransom from construction companies.
