Conservative Marc Thiessen warned Fox News viewers on Monday that former President Donald Trump appears to be struggling to win over key voters in his third run for the White House.
Although Trump bested former United Nations Ambassador Nikki Haley easily this week in her home state of South Carolina, Thiessen noted that it was still striking that 40 percent of voters in the state voted against him, even though the 2024 Republican primary essentially appears to be over.
In fact, Thiessen argued that Trump's performance in South Carolina looked particularly bad when compared to President Joe Biden.
"This is a unique election in the sense that we have basically two incumbents," he said. "So how did Joe Biden do in South Carolina? 96.2 percent of the vote. Donald Trump got 60 percent and four in ten voters in the Republican Party so no, even though they know that this race is pretty much over, that he's going to be the nominee, they still voted against him!"

Thiessen went on to explain why it would be dangerous to brush this trend off, especially since Haley also won more than 40 percent of the vote in New Hampshire as well.
"That is a problem," he said. "Because he said that this is the most united Republican Party he's ever seen and it is not the most united Republican Party. And 59 percent of those Haley voters say they're not voting for him!"
Although Haley has not yet won a single state, she has vowed to stay in the race for the foreseeable future.
