After being out of a job for two months, Mike Vrabel has reportedly landed his next NFL job.

The Browns have hired the former Tennessee Titans head coach and Patriots linebacker as a coaching and personnel consultant, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter and Field Yates.

Vrabel was fired by the Titans on Jan. 9 after spending six seasons as the team’s head coach.

The 48-year-old was let go by Tennessee two days before former Patriots head coach Bill Belichick and New England mutually parted ways.

Naturally, Vrabel, a three-time Super Bowl champion with the Patriots, was connected to his old team as an option to replace Belichick. He was rumored to be interested in becoming New England’s head coach, and Patriots’ owner Kraft reportedly considered him before hiring Jerod Mayo.

In fact, one of the reasons the Titans decided to move on from Vrabel reportedly involved New England.

Vrabel’s visit to Foxborough to be inducted into the Patriots’ Hall of Fame in Oct. 2023 and rumors that followed didn’t sit well with Tennessee’s ownership, according to NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport.

The former Patriot enjoyed a day at Gillette Stadium, taking in the team’s game versus the Bills after receiving his red jacket. He sat with Kraft in a suite after making comments to fans about how great New England is compared to other NFL teams.

“I don’t want you to take this organization for granted,” Vrabel told fans during his speech. “I’ve been [to] a lot of places, this is a special place with great leadership, great fans, great direction, and great coaching. Enjoy it, it’s not like this everywhere.”

Vrabel’s visit, which led to rumors about him potentially coaching the Patriots in 2024, was reportedly never dealt with “internally,” per Rapoport. That allegedly factored into the Titans’ decision to move on.

Alt last, after all of those rumors and countless other head coach-needy teams passing on him over the last couple of months, Vrabel is reportedly returning to his home state of Ohio.
