March 28: Vermont author and historian Gary Shattuck will speak about Skenesborough (Whitehall) founder Philip Skene at 6:30 p.m. March 28 in the Sandy Hill Arts Center, 214 Main St.in Hudson Falls. The event is sponsored by the Washington County 250th Committee and the Sandy Hill Arts Center. Shattuck’s program will focus upon primary sources he has not used in his book. The presentation will examine the impact that the law, war, family, environment and immigration had on Skene in his settling and subsequent loss of a frontier community. The program is free and open to the public. Donations are gladly accepted.

April 8: The 1980 Herb Brooks Arena will be open to the public from 2 to 5 p.m. on April 8 showing a live feed of the 2024 total solar eclipse on the 1980 Herb Brooks Arena jumbotron! This is an excellent viewing alternative if the weather is poor. Grab a bite to eat or a drink in Roamers Café overlooking the Speed Skating Oval and festivities. The Roamers Café Deck will offer a limited view of the solar eclipse with limited capacity.
ECLIPSE VIEWING PARTY, Olympic Speed Skating Oval, Lake Placid
April 8: The Olympic Center will host a free viewing party for the 2024 Solar Eclipse on the James C. Sheffield Speed Skating Oval (conditions permitting). Gates open at 2 p.m. before the 2:13 p.m. start of the eclipse. The Oval offers an open south by southwest facing view of the Adirondack High Peaks and the iconic Olympic Ski Jumps, with room for many spectators to gather and watch the entirety of the solar eclipse from start to finish. Spectators can also enjoy onsite food and music. Before the eclipse, check out Eclipse the House events happening in the Olympic Center. The Roamers Patio Deck overlooking the Oval will also be open for viewing the eclipse. The Deck offers a limited view and limited capacity.

BREWFEST, Glens Falls
April 20: BrewFest is about much more than beer. It is about making our community a better place. All proceeds benefit the Feeder Canal Alliance, a local not-for-profits that makes our region special. Fourteen years ago, three ordinary beer loving guys ― a principal (Chris Reed), an optometrist (John Cordes) and a resort manager (Bill Mason) walked into a bar…no sorry that’s a different joke. What they did was give our town one of the first area beer festivals. As dedicated community members, however, they wanted to see this BrewFest do much more than simply satisfy a desire for handcrafted brews. They wanted it to have a positive impact on the community.

Murray Abraham). Resenting Mozart for both his hedonistic lifestyle and his undeniable talent, the highly religious Salieri is gradually consumed by his jealousy and becomes obsessed with Mozart’s downfall, leading to a devious scheme that has dire consequences for both men.

Writing in a creative frenzy, pouring out his genius in an attempt to improve his fortunes while fearing his impending death, he put everything he had into this astonishing masterpiece that remains beloved by audiences more than two centuries after its first performance. Come join us as we celebrate the end of an amazing season of Music and Adventure, as Music Director Charles Peltz conducts one of the most famous choral works in the classical repertoire, “The Requiem.”

June 29-30: The 47th Annual Freihofer’s Saratoga Jazz Festival will return for a full two-day and two-stage exhilarating festival experience on Saturday, June 29 and Sunday, June 30 at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center. Featuring a roster of twenty-two musical groups and ten festival debuts, the line-up is co-headlined by four premier contemporary artists.
