Top 5 Plays of the Week – Week 31

JOPLIN, Mo – After a week of college and high school sports, we showed off our Top 5 Plays of the Week from around the Four States.

Play #1: Brody Pant (Carl Junction Sophomore Infielder)

Carl Junction’s Brody Pant had a massive game on Saturday when he went 3-for-3 with 5 RBI’s and hit three home-runs against McDonald County.

Before that game, Pant had never hit a home-run before, but racked up three in that game. The Bulldogs went on to shutout the Mustangs, 10-0.

Play #2: Taelyn Reeder (Diamond Freshman Utility Player)

At Mt. Vernon last week, Diamond’s Taelyn Reeder hit a walk-off RBI-single that allowed Aubrey Ball to score all the way from first and Diamond defeated Ash Grove, 10-9, to stay undefeated on the season.

Play #3: Brody Crane (Neosho Sophomore Utility Player)

In the Roy B Shaver Classic last week, against Southwest, Brody Crane hit a deep shot to centerfield and ended up turning it into a inside-the-park home-run.

The Wildcats went on to defeat Southwest on a walk-off, 4-3.

Play #4: Garrett Rice (Missouri Southern Senior Infielder)

Missouri Southern’s Garrett Rice hit not one, not two, but three home-runs in their game against Washburn on Sunday.

Rice had two, 2-run homers and a solo home-run. He went 3-for-4 with 5 RBI’s and 3 homers. MSSU edged out Washburn, 11-8, to win the series two games to one.

Play #5: Pittsburg Purple Dragons Baseball —

On Saturday, the Pittsburg Purple Dragons hosted the Joplin Eagles and their defense was dialed in.

They turned multiple double plays thanks to Westin Rink, Tucker Akins, Carsen Nickelson and Nate Mitchell coming up big-time with the defense. Pittsburg dominated Joplin, winning 11-1.
