Breakdown of Giants' picks in 4-round NFL.com mock draft

In a four-round mock draft from Chad Rueter of NFL.com, the New York Giants bolster their playmaking on the offensive side of the ball with their first two selections and then address the secondary in rounds three and four.

The Giants currently hold six picks in the 2024 NFL Draft, with only two teams having fewer selections than them. However, because the Giants are picking near the top of each round, they rank 12th overall in draft capital value.

The Giants entered free agency with wide receiver, the offensive line, cornerback, and edge rusher as positions of need. They were able to address several of those positions, but also added some new needs to that list, specifically running back and safety, with a few free agent departures.

Here is a breakdown of what you need to know about each Giants’ selection in Reuter’s most recent mock draft:

1.6: Malik Nabers, WR, LSU

Height: 6-0

Weight: 200

RAS: N/A (incomplete testing)

PFF rank: 4th

What to know: The Giants are in need of a true No. 1 pass-catching threat at the receiver position and Malik Nabers has the potential to provide that element almost immediately. Nabers can win lined up inside or out and in all parts of the field. He put together a monster 2023 season, totaling nearly 1,600 receiving yards at almost 18 yards per catch with 14 touchdowns. He would finish the season ranked second among all receivers in receiving yards, third in touchdowns and yards per route run, and ninth in total yards after the catch, according to PFF.

2.47: Blake Corum, RB, Michigan

Michigan running back Blake Corum runs the ball in for a touchdown during fourth quarter at the College Football Playoff national championship game against Washington at NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas on Monday, Jan.8, 2024.

Height: 5-8

Weight: 205

RAS: 8.48

PFF rank: 75th

What to know: After losing Saquon Barkley to Philadelphia, the Giants would sign Devin Singletary in free agency to bolster the running back position, but additional work is needed. Over the last two seasons, Corum has rushed for 1,461 yards in 2022 and 1,245 yards in 2023, while averaging 5.4 yards per carry and totaling a whopping 45 rushing touchdowns during that span. Corum had a relatively small role in the passing game, with 29 combined targets over the last two years.

3.70: Tyler Nubin, S, Minnesota

Height: 6-1

Weight: 205

RAS: 2.91

PFF rank: 25th

What to know: As you can see by Nubin’s 2.91 RAS, he did not test well athletically during this pre-draft process. Contributing to that low RAS figure was a 4.59 second 40-time, a 4.51 second shuttle  and a 7.2 second 3-cone. However, on tape, he has been a ball-hawk throughout his career, totaling 12 interceptions and 11 pass breakups the last three seasons. He’s also been a sound tackler, and versatile, playing both deep and in the box regularly in college. The Giants lost Xavier McKinney in free agency and currently have only three safeties on their roster.

4.107: Kris Abrams-Draine, CB, Missouri

Height: 5-11

Weight: 179

RAS: 6.41

PFF rank: 112th

What to know: An experienced player with almost 2,200 career snaps, most of which came on the boundary, but Abrams-Draine does have some nickel experience as well. Abrams-Draine has been a really steady tackler and a willing run defender. In coverage throughout his career, Abrams-Draine has allowed a completion rate of only 52 percent along with 14.3 yards per catch. He’s totaled seven interceptions and 30 pass breakups over the last three seasons. In 2023, Abrams-Draine was one of PFF’s highest graded cover corners.
