Cyclist killed after being hit by lorry in Glasgow

A cyclist has been killed after being hit by a lorry in Glasgow.

The 56-year-old woman was struck by the HGV on Manse Road, in the city's Bearsden area, around 08:10 on Tuesday.

Emergency services attended the incident outside Bearsden Early Years Centre but she was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police Scotland said inquiries were ongoing to establish the full circumstances and officers are appealing for information, external.

The male driver of the HGV was not injured.

The road was closed for crash investigations to take place and reopened at about13:30.

Sgt Chris Hoggans, of Police Scotland’s road policing unit, said: “My thoughts are with the families and friends of the deceased at this difficult time.

“I would urge anyone who may have been in the area around the time of the crash and witnessed what took place, or has any dashcam footage which could assist, to please get in touch.”
