A man was sentenced to 229 years to life in prison for a series of sexual assaults and kidnappings in Sacramento County, according to the district attorney's office.On Friday, Octavian Joseph was sentenced by a judge for sexually assaulting five unrelated women at different times in 2019.Joseph was convicted by a jury in November. Those convictions include eight counts of forcible oral copulation, five counts of rape, attempted rape, two counts of false imprisonment and two counts of aggravated kidnapping.The DA said Joseph committed the crimes between February and December of 2019.In the December assault, a victim was pulled over by law enforcement with Joseph in the car. The victim was able to report the crimes, and Joseph was arrested. A forensic exam linked Joseph's DNA to the other crimes.See more coverage of top California stories here | Download our app.

A man was sentenced to 229 years to life in prison for a series of sexual assaults and kidnappings in Sacramento County, according to the district attorney's office.

Joseph was convicted by a jury in November. Those convictions include eight counts of forcible oral copulation, five counts of rape, attempted rape, two counts of false imprisonment and two counts of aggravated kidnapping.
