  1. Oh my goodness. Matt Caldie was the only one who actually answered the question about which would be a better use of taxpayer funds: addiction and mental heath care or a new jail.

I’m very disappointed that the other 3 punted and didn’t answer the question instead saying both are important. Of course they are and Matt Caldie, but he answered the question and prioritized a jail. He also offered some ideas for a one story building.

He may be the least experienced, but at least he can make a decision which will bode well for him as a county council member.

  2. The statement was supposed to say Matt Caldie agreed both were important, but he was able to prioritize

  3. Not familiar with any outreach to citizens in urbanized areas of the county. When will citizens be at the forefront of a campaign? It is clear the priorities of city versus county aren’t the same, so it is not very helpful to fall back on city commission experience when the two governments won’t modernize together. Will the county ever get a citizen response system such as uReport to be held accountable? Will the never ending parking in yards, junk piles, and driveway width constraints be implemented in the county so we can finally reduce vehicles, have a better environmental impact, and create a better aesthetic? It’s wild that such standards have gone by the wayside because staffing the county isn’t a priority nor is modern policy creation as of late. Hope to see candidates expand their discussion not just to a jail that needs a location downtown on a county owned lot instead of impacting home values in surrounding communities that don’t want it!

    1. Experience on a city commission sure is relevant just as any other experience helps inform a candidate and provides helpful skills and insights
