Kentuckiana Parkour gym seeks to improve body and mind
The owner of Kentuckiana Parkour, Marcus Sumner, says the best way to describe them is "getting from point A to point B in as creative a way as possible."
With that in mind, parkour's hallmarks are running, leaping, and flipping in a natural environment.
Sumner believes that all of that can be a good way for people to get healthier.
Kentuckiana Parkour: Introduction
"You get in great shape doing it," Sumner said. "It doesn't feel like our working out because you're just having fun and expressing yourself through your movement."
Though Sumner acknowledges that Parkour can be intimidating to some, he thinks that the sport is what you make of it.
Kentuckiana Parkour: The basics
"What I've loved so much about it isn't these big stunts or high-flying moves," Sumner said. It's that it's accessible and that anyone can do it."
Kentuckiana Parkour: The wall
While some Kentuckiana Parkour clients go to the Clarksville, Indiana gym in search of a good workout, Sumner thinks the true benefit of Parkour happens above the shoulders.
"We don't just train you to overcome physical obstacles," Sumner said. "We also teach when you hit an obstacle in life, mental or physical; we are teaching there is a way to overcome any obstacle."
Kentuckiana Parkour is seeking to expand into Kentucky.
