HSBC, a high street bank with 14 million customers, has plans to make debit cards fee-free for all spending abroad. This means customers will no longer need two separate debit cards when travelling overseas, HSBC UK has informed its customers and account holders.

The bank aims to make all UK-based debit cards fee-free for holidaymakers and tourists. The change will start with Premier current account customers, according to the Sun newspaper, which reported the news today.

HSBC plans to eventually waive all fees on its UK-based debit cards so that nobody pays more in fees than others when travelling overseas. After Premier current accounts, the changes will be introduced to HSBC Advance and standard bank account customers.
