Weather stalls Wisconsin fieldwork

A late month snow storm and rain put a halt to early fieldwork in Wisconsin.

The USDA says prior to that shift in weather, warm, dry weather allowed farmers to get in the fields, tilling and applying manure ahead of planting, with wheat and alfalfa starting to green in southern parts of the state and minimal winter freeze damage reported.

The USDA’s weekly crop progress and condition reports resume next Monday.
