A popular Redding juice bar is relocating one of their storefronts.

Roots Juice Bar will be moving their Churn Creek location in the "Shasta Crossroads" complex to a different stretch of Churn Creek, near Hartnell Avenue. Owners Ricky and Mariiah Rothmann say this move was inspired by their desire to own their storefront, rather than renting a space, which has created complications. Their future spot will feature a drive-thru and large outdoor sitting area, while also clearing out a space that is currently boarded up and blighted.

The move will also mark the first step in Roots becoming a franchise, which has long been the goal for the Rothmanns.

"We officially celebrated 10 years last year, which is really exciting," said Mariiah Rothmann on Tuesday. "We've been in that location for a long time [and] we're kind of bursting at the seams. I think we're ready to take that next step. As the business has grown, we definitely want to grow with it."

"If you think of us and Roots growth over the last 10 years, it's always been, 'find out what customers love, what they like, listen to them and adjust the business accordingly.' It's realizing that a drive-thru is something that is really convenient for a lot of people and that's what they want to see. That's what we're trying to offer."

"I think the most exciting thing about this is, we want this model to be the franchise model that Roots can take into other cities. And we want 2025 to prove that it's possible," Ricky added.

The Rothmanns plan to start demolition on the vacated site within the next few weeks. They hope to have their new Roots location open at the start of next year.
