A tractor-trailer split a utility pole in half before overturning on Wax Road.

Wednesday morning at approximately 7:30, Grayson County Chief Deputy Sonny Poteet and Sheriff Norman Chaffins, GC Emergency Management Director Carey Sims, the Wax Fire Department, and EMS responded to the accident in the 4200 block of Wax Road.

Upon arriving at the scene, first responders found a southbound Freightliner semi left the roadway in a curve and traveled down a short embankment. The semi, carrying lumber, traveled in a grassy area adjacent to the roadway for about 240 feet where it, along the way, struck and snapped a utility pole in half before flipping onto its side.

The driver, from Louisville and suffering from general soreness, refused transport by EMS.

The semi is owned by Falls City Lumber Co. out of Louisville.

The roadway was either closed or partially closed for a few hours as the semi was removed from the scene and the utility pole replaced.
