Lionel Messi says he will call time on his football career when he no longer enjoys playing.

Messi, 36, has a contract with Inter Miami — for whom he has scored 16 goals in 19 first-team appearances since his move from Paris Saint-Germain a year ago — through to the end of 2025.

“I know that as soon as I believe that I can no longer perform, or no longer enjoy the game, or not able to help my team-mates, then I will stop,” Messi told the podcast Big Time, which was broadcast on Saudi Arabian TV this week.

Real Madrid midfielder Eduardo Camavinga has escaped serious injury after being forced off injured while on duty for France on Tuesday night.

Madrid say Camavinga has a slight sprain and the 21-year-old is in line to face Athletic Bilbao in La Liga on Sunday.

Madrid doctors made contact with their French national team counterparts following the game with the player returning to Spain for tests on Wednesday.

Ecuador condemn 'events contrary to values' after Paez, 16, allegedly visits nightclub

The Ecuadorian Football Federation (FEF) has condemned video footage appearing to show squad members, including 16-year-old Kendry Paez, in a nightclub during April’s international camp in the United States.

Videos emerged on social media appearing to show three players — Paez, plus 32-year-old defender Robert Arboleda and 23-year-old winger Gonzalo Plata — with a female dancer. Arboleda appears to be holding a bundle of bank notes.

A second video appears to show a number of Ecuador players dancing in a club, including Chelsea midfielder Moises Caceido, while a sign is displayed reading “Ecuador in the house”.

The FEF explained players were allotted six and a half hours of free time on Friday — the day after their 2-0 friendly victory over Guatemala at the Red Bull Arena in New Jersey and two days before their defeat to Italy.

LAFC finalizing agreement with Giroud

LAFC is finalizing a deal to sign French forward Olivier Giroud, sources briefed on the deal tell The Athletic.

The agreement would be for Giroud to join LAFC this summer when his contract with AC Milan expires. He would join LAFC after Euro 2024, which runs from June 14 through July 14. MLS’s summer transfer window opens on July 18.

The guaranteed portion of the deal runs through the 2025 MLS season, sources add. LAFC has his MLS discovery rights, meaning they have priority to sign him ahead of any other MLS club.

Giroud, 37, is France’s all-time leading scorer and still active with Les Bleus, having just wrapped up international duty this week. He appeared in a friendly against Germany.

Fulham unveil new stand plans including rooftop terrace and swimming pool

Fulham FC

Fulham have unveiled their latest plans for their New Riverside Stand including Michelin star restaurants, a rooftop terrace and a swimming pool.

The west London club have confirmed a number of premium matchday experiences including a 'Sky Deck', two fine dining restaurants and 'The Dugout', an opportunity to sit behind coaching staff during the match.

Club chairman Shahid Khan said: “My vision for the New Riverside Stand was to provide our fans, and our neighbourhood, with a destination that would continue to honour our history and tradition at Craven Cottage every day of the year, but especially so on match days with a premium experience that will be unlike anything in football, here in London or elsewhere.

"In short, today isn’t about finally being able to offer a higher standard of hospitality options that have essentially been unavailable to Fulham supporters until now.

"It’s about offering the ultimate match day hospitality experience in the world that will also benefit the long-term promise and future of Fulham Football Club.

"The New Riverside Stand at Craven Cottage will make it possible.”

Gareth Southgate has defended his selection of John Stones for England’s friendly against Belgium at Wembley Stadium on Tuesday — despite the Manchester City defender having to be withdrawn in the opening 10 minutes due to an injury.

Southgate added that the Stones, who played the full game when England lost 1-0 against Brazil on Thursday, appeared to have suffered an adductor problem.

The 29-year-old now faces a potential fitness battle ahead of City's crucial Premier League game against leaders Arsenal on Sunday, who lead the Manchester side by a point with 10 matches remaining.

There was bad news for Liverpool last night after Andy Robertson appeared to damage his ankle in Scotland’s 1-0 friendly defeat to Northern Ireland at Hampden Park. The defender is set for a scan back at his club to assess the potential problem.

Robertson, 30, could not continue after sustaining an injury following a heavy challenge in the first half from Sunderland’s Trai Hume and was replaced by Bologna’s Lewis Ferguson.

“We’ll assess him,” Scotland manager Steve Clarke said after the game. “He’ll go back to his club and they’ll assess him. Hopefully, he’s back soon.”

The England men’s team played without names on the back of their shirts during the second half of their friendly against Belgium on Tuesday as part of their partnership with Alzheimer’s Society.

Page insists he can take Wales forward after missing out on Euros

Wales manager Rob Page insists he is the right man to take the national side forward after missing out on qualification for this summer's European Championship.

Wales lost a penalty shootout to Poland on Tuesday night to end their qualification hopes. In October, Football Association of Wales chief executive Noel Mooney claimed that Page's position would be under review if the nation failed to qualify automatically for the finals.

Page originally took over on a temporary basis in November 2020, replacing Ryan Giggs, before getting the job on a permanent basis in June 2022. He has a contract in place through to 2026.

"Absolutely," Page said after Tuesday's defeat, when asked if he wanted to continue in his role. "We're a team in transition, while in transition we were one penalty from qualifying. That’s my full focus, building on what we have already started."

Page added: ""I've got a great relationship with Dave Adams, the technical director. We've had our issues in the past, haven't we? It's been well documented. But everything's fine. Everything's great. I think they appreciate it. The board, the chief exec, the president, I think they see the journey we're on and what we're trying to do.

"In 12 months, from retirement of senior players to introducing younger players and being one kick away from qualification. I think they see the work we're doing and the supporters do too." When asked if nothing changes on his position, Page responded: "No."

The former central defender had previously managed Wales’ Under-21 side as well as Northampton Town and Port Vale before becoming Giggs’ assistant.

Liverpool full-back Conor Bradley has spoken of his pride in scoring his first Northern Ireland goal in Tuesday night's 1-0 friendly win in Scotland.

Bradley, 20, struck the only goal of the game in the first half — his first international goal in his 15th cap. "I was just hoping it went in, to be honest," Bradley, who said he was 'buzzing about the strike', told BBC Sport Northern Ireland.

"I don't even know what happened after that. To get the 1-0 win is just fantastic and it's a great night all-round. I think we still have lots of places to improve, but that was a great performance. I think at times we could have been a bit better on the ball.

"To defend the way we did for the 90 minutes and keep a clean sheet here at Hampden, obviously Scotland are going to the Euros and they are a great side full or Premier League players, it is just brilliant."

Poland were the third side to qualify for the Euros last night, with their penalty shootout victory over Wales securing their spot at the tournament.

That game also finished goalless after regular and extra time, with Poland scoring all five of their penalties before Juventus goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny saved Wales' fifth spot-kick from Leeds United's Dan James to win the match in Cardiff.

Poland, who reached the last-16 stage of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, will face France, Austria and the Netherlands in Group D.

Ukraine qualified for the 2024 European Championship after a 2-1 victory over Iceland in their play-off final last night.

Chelsea's Mykhailo Mudryk was the matchwinner for Ukraine, who had gone behind in the 30th minute after a superb individual goal from Genoa forward Albert Gudmundsson.

Valencia's Roman Yaremchuk thought he had equalised for Ukraine shortly after, only to see his effort ruled out for offside. Ukraine did then level in the 54th minute through Girona's Viktor Tsygankov, before Mudryk won the match late on as he converted from Heorhiy Sudakov's cutback.
