City of Slidell breaks ground on new skate park, pickleball courts

SLIDELL, La. (WGNO) — Slidell Mayor Greg Cromer announced that the city broke ground on its new Skate Park and Pickleball courts project.

According to city officials, construction began Tuesday, March 19 at John Slidell Park at 5 p.m.

The Slidell Skate Park will be designed by Pillar Design Studios, LLC and is expected to span 14,000 square feet made for novice and pro skaters. City officials say the project, under the construction of Saucier Company, is expected to cost $875,000.

The Slidell Pickleball Courts will be designed by Kyle and Associates and constructed by Cobalt Construction, Incorporated. They will consist of 12 new outdoor courts at a total cost of $1 million.

Cromer, city officials and members of the Slidell City Council were present at the ceremony.

City leaders said both projects should be completed by October 2024.
