Vancouver police say a 19-year-old man has been charged with manslaughter and aggravated assault in relation to an incident that led to a rollover crash in South Vancouver more than two years ago.

The crash happened around 11 p.m. PT on Oct. 30, 2021, near Fraser Street and East 55th Avenue. Investigators say three men were in the vehicle at the time and had been involved in a "confrontation" with people in another car.

The Vancouver Police Department (VPD) said at the time that the car collided with several parked vehicles and ended up on its side.

Vinay Aujla, 19, was found dead at the scene, police said. Addison said in 2021 that he did not die because of the crash, but due to injuries he sustained during the confrontation beforehand.

The other two men in the crashed car, aged 18 and 19, were treated in hospital for stab wounds, the VPD said.

A 19-year-old man is now facing one count of manslaughter and two counts of aggravated assault, police said Thursday in a release. The VPD said he cannot be publicly identified because he was a minor at the time.
