JONESBORO, Ark. (KAIT) - Police arrested a man after they said he left drugs beside a baby while it was sleeping.

Craighead County District Court Judge David Boling found probable cause on Monday, March 25 to charge 36-year-old Jerome Christian Casey, of Jonesboro, with possession of a firearm by certain persons, possession of Schedule VI with the purpose to deliver, simultaneous possession of drugs and firearms, violation of no contact order, third-degree endangering the welfare of a minor, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

On Friday, March 22, investigators with the Street Crimes unit went to an apartment in the 1000 block of North Patrick Street and made contact with Casey.

According to an affidavit, Casey had previously been on SIS and had a protection order against him from a person who lived with Casey.

A search of his room was conducted, where investigators found a bag on the couch near a baby who was sleeping. Police said the bag was filled with 89 grams of suspected marijuana, a black .38 Special cartridge, and a piece of mail with Casey’s name on it.

They added there was a small digital scale on a table next to the couch, a gas mask-style marijuana bong in the closet, and Casey was also found to have a bag on him containing 3.7 grams of suspected marijuana.

The affidavit noted Casey had been a convicted felon since 2015.

On March 25, Judge Boling gave a $150,000 bond. His next court appearance is scheduled for Friday, April 26.
