Álex Grimaldo: "The fight against racism is a daily struggle"

The Spanish international is hoping for a great spectacle on Tuesday against Brazil: "It's going to be a very tough but beautiful game".

Two days after playing his second game for the Spanish national team in London, left-back Alejandro Grimaldo wanted to reinforce the role that the world of football can play in the vital battle against racism, which will see the latest initiative for the cause with the solidarity match that Spain are to play against Brazil at the Santiago Bernabéu stadium this Tuesday.

"We must continue to fight to eradicate racism and it is a daily struggle to prevent players like Vinicius or any other from experiencing episodes of intolerance," said the player from La Puebla de Vallbona after the national team's Sunday training session at the Ciudad del Fútbol.

Grimaldo is very happy with his current form, which he describes as "the best of my entire career, something I've been working for for many years and which I now want to enjoy".

Regarding this international window, the player from Valencia confesses that "personally speaking,  I felt good last Friday, it was a preparation match against Colombia and the important thing is to improve aspects to be ready for the European Championship".

Now, five-time world champions Brazil will be a highly demanding test for Spain, so Grimaldo and his team-mates are fully focused on preparations for the match: "We watched Brazil's game against England. It's going to be a very good but tough match that will help us to prepare for the Euros better".

All this less than three months before a European Championship at which Grimaldo aspires to play, although he prefers to focus on the present, saying "when every summer comes, it seems like I'm going to move to a lot of clubs. What I want is to keep working and play a great role for the national team. I'm thinking about the present, which is very nice," he said.
