Kathleen Rice is a specialist electronic communications attorney and consultant registered to practice law in South Africa. She has 20 years’ experience advising multinational electronic communications operators, broadcasters, regulators and state owned entities on the intricacies of telecommunications law and the regulation of competition in the sector. Leading international legal ranking journals have consistently ranked her as the top telecommunications and media law practitioner in South Africa. In addition to practising law, Ms Rice lectured both the undergraduate and postgraduate telecommunications courses for five years at the University of the Witwatersrand.
Between 2008 and 2014 Ms Rice was a director of the law firm DLA Cliffe Dekker, one of the largest and most reputable law firms in South African. During that time, Cliffe Dekker was part of the largest global law firm, DLA Piper. Ms Rice left Cliffe Dekker to form her own law firm, Kathleen Rice Attorneys, in 2015.
