Three additional Walmart stores are set to close in the coming weeks, according to multiple reports.

Walmart will close two stores in California and one in Maryland, Business Insider reported, bringing the total number of shutdowns this year to six. The nation’s largest retailer previously announced it was closing locations in Columbus, Ohio and two additional California locations, both in San Diego County.

The latest closures include the Neighborhood Market at 4080 Douglas Blvd in Granite Bay, California and 2753 in Eastland Center Drive in West Covina, Business Insider reported. The Maryland location is at 1238 Putty Hill Ave in Towson.

The Towson location is located in a unique two-level design that took over a space vacated by Montgomery Ward, The Daily Record reported. The store has 207 employees that are eligible to transfer to another location.

Last year, Walmart closed 20 stores across 11 states, including four in Chicago, due to poor financial performance. There are more than 4,616 Walmart stores located across the U.S.

Amid the closures, Walmart announced it will build or convert 150 stores into larger format locations

The projects will start with a pair of Neighborhood Market Formations, one in Santa Rosa Beach, Florida and another in Atlanta Georgia.

Walmart is also finalizing construction plans on 12 new projects that will start in 2024, as well as converting one of its smaller locations to a Walmart Supercenter. Those locations haven’t been announced. Included in the plans are remodels for an additional 650 stores across 47 states.
