Aaron Donald revealed his very understandable reasons for retiring from the NFL

Retiring Los Angeles Rams defensive tackle Aaron Donald didn’t need to prove anything else to cement his status as one of the best football players of all time.

The Hall of Fame lock accomplished as much as any player has at both his position and in his generation, and he shared on his Twitter (X) account on Wednesday a glimpse into what fueled his decision to step away from the game after 10 seasons of excellence.

Donald said it was a mix of feeling both satisfied with all that he had accomplished in his career and a sense of burnout with the taxing grind of being a professional NFL player.

“I’m burned out,” Donald shared in the clip. “I’m full. I’m complete. I’m satisfied with what I was able to do in 10 years.”

That’s an incredibly understanding reason for ending any career, much less one as decorated and definitive as Donald had in the NFL.

It’s really cool that he’s willing to open up about this consequential decision for the NFL, and he deserves nothing but the best in his well-deserved second wave of his career.
