The Florida Atlantic University football team has officially solidified its 2024 regular season schedule.The team announced its schedule on Thursday.The Owls open their season Saturday, Aug. 31, at Spartan Stadium on the campus of Michigan State University. According to a contract between FAU and MSU, Michigan State will pay FAU $1.4 million to play the non-conference game in East Lansing, Michigan, this fall.The Owls begin American Athletic Conference play Sept. 7 against new conference member Army. The Black Knights and Owls will play for the first time at FAU Stadium.Florida Atlantic and FIU were once conference rivals in Conference USA. But conference realignment led to FAU leaving CUSA for the American Athletic Conference. After not playing each other last year, Florida Atlantic and FIU will renew their rivalry game this fall as non-league foes in the Shula Bowl.The first game of a four-game series is scheduled for Sept. 14 at FAU Stadium. The Owls will also host the Shula Bowl in 2026, while FIU will host FAU in Miami in 2025 and 2027.The 2023 season marked the time in 21 years the Owls and Panthers did not play in the Shula Bowl. FAU and the University of Connecticut begin the first of a two-game non-conference series this fall as the Owls will travel to UConn on Sept. 21.UConn is scheduled to play at FAU Stadium in 2026. FAU concludes the non-conference portion of the schedule on Sept. 28 with a home game against Wagner College of the Football Championship Subdivision.
