Ex-Emmerdale star Amy Nuttall has been flooded with support from fans after she shared a heartfelt post on X, formerly known as Twitter, about grief, following the sudden death of her beloved mother in November 2023.

Amy's mum Elaine passed away last year after being diagnosed with a brain tumour in July, just four months before her death. At the time, a devastated Amy described her mum as her "rock" and "best friend", as she admitted she didn't know "how I'm going to do life without" her.

On Monday, 25 March, Amy took to X as she admitted that that day had been "one of the hardest" she had experienced since the passing of her mum.

She wrote: "Grief can do one today. Been almost five months and yet today has been one of the hardest. What’s that about.. Thought I’d share as I imagine a million others will be in the same boat. You’re not alone wherever you are . Tomorrow is another day."

Amy's followers rushed to offer their support as they commented on the post, with one writing: "As time goes on it can be harder because it’s one day further away from last words and last hugs.

"Always try and remember the good stuff and knowing how they would have reacted to certain events and be grateful you knew them well enough to know that. We grieve because we loved."

Another commented: "It’s awful and lonely. Some days it feels the sun will never shine again. But the sun will shine. Little glimmers break through the gloom.

"We are all changed by grief. We learn to sit with it and remember those we lost with love. Be kind to yourself."

A third said: "Amy, it will be like that. You love & miss your mum & she had one of the worst illnesses. It’s very hard to watch someone you love with it.

"Today will be better. Plant something in her memory ( I planted High Hopes for my brother) , it will lift you each year it blooms."

Amy, who played Chloe Atkinson on Emmerdale from 2000 to 2005, has endured a rough couple of years after splitting from her husband, Broadchurch actor Andrew Buchan at the beginning of 2023, amid rumours he had cheated on her with his 42 year old Better co-star Leila Farzad.

Amy and Andrew are thought to have briefly reconciled last year before ending their relationship for good.
