And five months on, Amy is still dealing with her loss on a daily basis.

Taking to X - formerly Twitter - she wrote: "Grief can do one today.
Been almost five months and yet today has been one of the hardest. What’s that about..

"Thought I’d share as I imagine a million others will be in the same boat. You’re not alone wherever you are. Tomorrow is another day."

Amy - who played Chloe Atkinson in Emmerdale - was immediately supported by her followers.

One wrote: "As time goes on it can be harder because it’s one day further away from last words and last hugs.

"Always try and remember the good stuff and knowing how they would have reacted to certain events and be grateful you knew them well enough to know that. We grieve because we loved."

Another added: "Amy , it will be like that. You love & miss your mum & she had one of the worst illnesses. It’s very hard to watch someone you love with it.

"Today will be better. Plant something in her memory ( I planted High Hopes for my brother) , it will lift you each year it blooms."

A third tweeted: "It’s awful and lonely. Some days it feels the sun will never shine again. But the sun will shine. Little glimmers break through the gloom.

"We are all changed by grief. We learn to sit with it and remember those we lost with love. Be kind to yourself."

Back in November, Amy took to Instagram to share the sad news of her mother's death.

Alongside a picture of the smiling together in the sunshine, she wrote: "My heart is beating loudly whilst I write this.

"Yesterday I said goodbye to my beautiful dear mummy. She was diagnosed in July with a glioblastoma (grade 4). To say it was the biggest shock would be an understatement.

"Together with my wonderful family, we helped care for her to the end where she died in my arms as I lay beside her on 30/10/23 at 5.05pm.

"She humbled us all with how she handled this cruel diagnosis… never complaining, always smiling and bringing her daft humour to the fore every day."

She concluded: "Mum, you were my rock. Always. My best friend.

"I’m not sure how I’m going to do life without you but I know you’ll always be with me to carry me through as you always did."

Amy has had a difficult couple of years after The Sun revealed earlier last year how Amy had kicked her Broadchurch star husband Andrew Buchan out of their family home — for the second time.

The couple had initially attempted to work on their 11-year marriage after it was revealed Andrew, 44, had ditched her for Leila Farzad, his co-star in BBC crime thriller Better.
