(WJW) — Law enforcement announced just after 3 p.m. Saturday that a statewide Amber Alert has been canceled a 15-year-old girl.

The girl has been found safe and the 17-year-old male suspect is in custody, according to a Facebook post by the Grove City Police Department.

Earlier Saturday, police released a photo of the suspect they said was involved with the statewide Amber Alert for the teen. Grove City is in Franklin County near Columbus.

Police released the following statement early Saturday morning:

Be on the lookout for an abducted child. On March 22, 2024 at 11:30 PM, [a] 17y/o male took [a] 15y/o from Independence Way, in Grove City last night around 2330hrs, 3/22/2024 in a possibly stolen silver Honda sedan with black tinted windows. Suspect is possibly armed and dangerous and is wanted out of Pickaway County for robbery.

Grove City Police also revealed a disturbing threat made by the suspect: He was last seen on social media yesterday with a gun making statements that “he has a bullet” for the victim.

FOX 8’s Columbus sister station WCMH is reporting that Grove City police said the victim and suspect were girlfriend and boyfriend with a March 20 incident report for a previous threat saying they had broken up. On Wednesday, Grove City police went to the victim’s address at 12:48 a.m. after reports of gunshots.

Witnesses said that they observed teenagers run towards a silver Toyota parked in front of the house with one witness telling police they believe the boy fired shots. That witness also stated the boy had threatened the 15-year-old girl during a FaceTime call with one of her family members. The responding officer did not find any shell casings or bullet holes and could not determine if shots were fired.

Anyone who has additional information about this case is asked to call police.
