TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — Florida Attorney General Ashley Moody gave another warning for spring breakers in a Tuesday press conference.

Moody was joined by Volusia County Sheriff Mike Chitwood and Volusia Recovery Alliance Executive Director Karen Chrapek in a “One Pill Can Kill” press conference in Daytona Beach.

The attorney general has previously spoken about the dangers of illegal drug use during spring break, stating that deadly amounts of fentanyl have been found in other types of narcotics.

“We lead the nation in those who overdose while on vacation,” Moody said.

According to the DEA, seven out of 10 fake pills containing fentanyl now have a dose high enough to kill, an increase of 75% in two years.

Earlier this month, the DEA reported seizing over 41 million lethal fentanyl doses in 2024 so far.
