Victoria College is accepting applications for its Vocational Nursing Program, with classes beginning in Jan. 2025.

Offered annually in Victoria, Gonzales and Hallettsville, the program equips students with the skills to become a licensed vocational nurse (LVN) in one year. Graduates earn a Vocational Nursing Certificate and are eligible to take the national licensure exam required by the Texas Board of Nursing.

LVNs provide care for patients under the supervision of registered nurses (RNs) or physicians. The median wage for LVNs in the Golden Crescent region is $24 per hour, with opportunities for advancement through additional training.

“Victoria College is committed to opening doors for aspiring nurses and meeting the healthcare industry’s need for qualified LVNs and RNs,” said Darla Strother, Dean of VC’s Division of Allied Health. “We recently introduced new resources to help applicants navigate the admissions requirements, and there are numerous scholarship opportunities to ease the financial burden for our students.”

Applicants are encouraged to submit the program application by April 1 to allow ample time to complete admission requirements. Applicants meeting all requirements by May 15 will receive priority consideration for scholarships. The final deadline to meet all admission requirements is Oct. 1.
