The Chesterton Art Center will host Duneland Weavers’ Guild and youth art exhibits next month.
The art center at 115 S. 4th St. will host "Fiber Art ’24: Duneland Weavers’ Guild Exhibition" in the Upper Gallery from April 6-29. A reception featuring artists, art for sale and prize drawings will take place from 1-4 p.m. on April 7 with a Style Show at 2 p.m.Â
Chris Acton will do a live weaving demonstration from 1-3 p.m. on April 19, Sue Degnan and Margaret Jones from noon-2 p.m. on April 20 and Roz Potter from 10 a.m. to noon on April 27. The artist demos are free to attend and open to all.
"The talented artists of the Guild have been busy creating original handwoven and knitted shawls, scarves, linens, wall hangings and more. You can purchase items on-site at the Art Center during the exhibition," the Chesterton Art Center said in a press release. "Weaving is a lively art in Northwest Indiana. The Duneland Weavers’ Guild has met monthly for more than 70 years, September through May. Current fiber artists, or those wishing to learn weaving are invited to join the Guild. Meetings are held via Zoom or in person at Three Moons Fiberworks in Chesterton."
