Ben Affleck Steps Out Looking Years Younger After Ditching His Beard

Ben Affleck Looks Years Younger After Shaving Beard

Entertainment gossip and news from Newsweek's network of contributors

Ben Affleck recently bid farewell to his signature beard, which he had been sporting for quite some time, as part of his preparation for an upcoming film role — and the transformation has left him looking remarkably youthful and refreshed without facial hair.

He was seen in Los Angeles on Thursday, March 21, and paired his new bare face with beige khakis, a maroon corduroy jacket, and colorful Nike sneakers. He was even seen holding a basketball as he showed off his new look.

The clean-shaven appearance coincides with Ben Affleck's involvement in the filming of The Accountant 2, which reportedly started filming this week. In the original film, Affleck portrayed the main character, Christian Wolff, who notably sported a clean-shaven look. Hence, it perfectly fits with him reprising the role.

The Academy Award winner will mark his return to a leading role in The Accountant 2, which is his first since the 2023 film Air. While the film's release date remains unannounced, Affleck is joined by a stellar cast of returning actors including Jon Bernthal, J.K. Simmons, Cynthia Addai-Robinson, and director Gavin O'Connor.

In 2016, The Accountant garnered a worldwide box office revenue of $155 million during its theatrical run and subsequently claimed the title of the most-rented digital film of the year, according to Deadline.

In the film, Ben portrays a remarkably adept CPA with autism who navigates a dual existence as a forensic accountant for criminal enterprises. The initial installment concluded with a compelling setup for a sequel: Cynthia's character's employer is assassinated by unidentified assailants, prompting her to enlist Ben's character's expertise to unravel the mystery surrounding the murder.
