The Coloradoan is proud to present our weekly Athlete of the Week series for this high school year, partnering with Blue Federal Credit Union to honor the best Fort Collins-area high school athletes.

There are five nominees every week, and fans can vote every Monday through Wednesday at coloradoan.com/sports/high-school-sports.

With spring sports starting up, here is the 21st edition of the 2023-24 school year for the week of March 17-23.

You can find the ballot at the bottom of the page. Voting is open until 11 p.m. Wednesday each week, with the winner announced on Thursday at Coloradoan.com/sports.

Fans can nominate top-performing athletes (deadline: 11:59 p.m. every Sunday), and the Coloradoan Sports staff will ultimately select the five nominees each week.

If you have nominations for a future Athlete of the Week, please send them via email to ChrisAbshire@coloradoan.com for consideration.

The following athletes are nominated for their performances last week (March 17-23):

  • Gemma Bowers, Fort Collins girls soccer: The Lambkins junior had a strong start to the season, scoring three goals combined in two Fort Collins wins. Bowers also had the game-winning goal (and that match's only score) in a 1-0 win over Boulder.
  • Ross Frank, Rocky Mountain baseball: The Lobos junior went 4-4 with three doubles and an RBI in Rocky's 10-0 road win at Rampart last week. Frank also tossed an inning of scoreless ball with a strikeout in the victory.
  • Jace Holley, Rocky Mountain girls soccer: The Lobos senior dominated a crosstown city rivalry game, scoring three goals for a hat trick in a 4-1 win over Poudre last week. Holley (a CU signee) has four goals and one assist in Rocky's 2-0 start.
  • Mikey Munn, Windsor boys track and field: The Wizards senior followed up a great football fall with a fast start to the winter. Quite literally fast, as Munn swept the boys 100- and 200-meter dash events at the Runners Roost on Friday, the second time this young season he's pulled off the dash double at a single event.
  • Owen Wind: PSD boys lacrosse: The Stars junior posted a great game against local rival Windsor last week, scoring a three-goal hat trick in PSD's dominant 10-3 win over the Wizards. Wind set the tone, scoring two goals in the first period as PSD raced out to a big lead and controlled the game.
