The Pittsburgh Pirates signed right-hander Domingo Germán to a minor-league contract with an invitation to big-league spring training.

The contract will pay Germán $1.25 million if he's in the majors, reports Pittsburgh Post-Gazette's Jason Mackey.

Germán threw a perfect game against the Oakland Athletics last June while pitching for the New York Yankees. However, he also saw his season end in August after he decided to enter an alcohol treatment program following a clubhouse incident where he reportedly got into confrontations with teammates, flipped over a couch, and smashed a television.

The 31-year-old registered a 4.56 ERA with 1.08 WHIP and 114 strikeouts over 108 2/3 innings (19 starts) in 2023.
