Willie J. Akins, 83, passed away peacefully March 9, 2024 at home. He's a 1959 graduate of Lincoln High School, Member of The Lincoln High School Marching Band, Served in the U.S. Army, Musician and Member of the Fabulous Soul Band, Graduate of Santa Fe College and the University of Florida, Former Regional Director of the South Side Boys and Girls Clubs of St. Petersburg, FL. He loved his Florida Gators, steamed crabs and fried fish.
He's survived by his oldest brother, Charles Akins Jr.; loving son, Elder Darryl Akins; a daughter, Amber Bannister; 5 stepbrothers and sisters; 3 grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Viewing on Friday, March 15, 2024, 2 PM - 7 PM and Saturday 12 PM - 4 PM at Pinkney-Smith Funeral Home, 727 NW 2nd Street, Gainesville, FL.
