Police in Enterprise, Alabama are holding an illegal migrant without bail after arresting him on rape charges, WDHN-TV reported Tuesday.

Pablo Mendoza, 23, reportedly committed first degree rape when he had sex with a 14-year-old girl in February. The girl could not consent to the intercourse, as she was “physically helpless or mentally incapacitated,” police told the outlet.

Once his case is heard, Mendoza will be deported from the country, the outlet wrote.

Reacting to the news was Rep. Wesley Hunt, R-Texas., who wrote via X “Joe Biden did this" in a reference to the president's immigration policy.

Sen. Tommy Tuberville, R-Ala., also remarked on the report.

Representatives of the Enterprise Police Department and Coffee County Sheriff’s Office did not respond to repeated requests for comment form The National Desk on the matter.

An influx of migrants coming into the U.S. has sparked intense debate about public safety and national security. MSNBC anchor Joe Scarborough pinned the blame on former President Donald Trump after dozens of migrants stormed across the border in El Paso, Texas last week.

Look at what the Republicans are doing to you," the anchor remarked. "Look what Donald Trump's doing to you.”

House GOP leaders on Monday sent a letter to a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) official demanding her testimony on the “zero consequences” for migrants entering the country illegally.

“For fiscal year 2023, the average daily detained population was nearly half of that from fiscal year 2019,” the letter read. “During the same time period, ICE removed from the interior of the country only half the number of aliens as in fiscal year 2019.”
