School records, state winners: Cape High School Boys Indoor Track & Field All-Stars Team

The 2024 boys indoor track season has come to a close.

Before the athletes head outside, let's take a look at who stood out from the winter season.

This list features representatives from five schools, with the most individual athletes coming from Cape and Islands League Champions Nauset.

All of these athletes were at the tops of their teams and competed locally, and at a statewide level, finding success everywhere they turned.

Presenting the 2024 Cape Cod Times Boys Track All-Stars.

Harry Ells, Barnstable

Ells finished the Cape and Islands League season undefeated in the shot put, and along the way set a personal best with a 43 feet 1 and half inches.

Jahi Kilburn, Barnstable

Kilburn joined the Barnstable track team as a sophomore, and in his first season for the Red Hawks, he quickly established himself as one of the best sprinters on the team. He paced the Red Hawks in both the 55m and 300m, with personal best times of 6.77 and 36.88 respectively. Kilburn was also a member of the Red Hawks 4x200 relay team that set a new Barnstable record, and finished fourth at the All-State Meet. He also set the record in the 300m, and said both were his favorite memories from the year.

By season's end, he had the Clippers fastest times in each of those four events. Gartner also won the mile at the MSTCA Freshman-Sophomore Meet, further establishing himself as one of the best distance runners in the area.

Jacob Lary, Falmouth

Lary finished the season as the Clippers leading point scorer thanks in large part to his success in multiple events, on both the track and the field. On the track, Lary finished with the fastest time on the team in the 55m hurdles (8.62). On the field as a jumper, he won the Cape and Islands League title in the high jump. His 5-10.5 mark was the highest for the Clippers.

Damian Bebber, Nauset

Bebber was a senior captain, and finished his final indoor track season by claiming a Co-League MVP award, and holds school records in the 300m (36.18), the 400m (50.49), as well as being one leg of the 4x200 relay record (1:34.60). This season, he claimed an individual Cape and Islands League title in all three of those events, winning the 300m in 36.78, the 600m in 1:32.87, and the 4x200 in 1:34.60, playing a critical role in the Warriors winning as a team. At the Division 4 State Championships, he finished third in the 300m (36.40) and second in the 4x200 (1:34.6).

Adian Brown, Nauset

Between his individual records and the relay records he's apart of, Brown now lays claim to five different Nauset school records (55m hurdles, 60m hurdles, 4x50m shuttle hurdle relay, 4x 55m shuttle hurdle relay, and 4x200m relay). Brown won the Cape and Islands League title in the 55m hurdles (8.00), 55m dash, and as a part of the 4x200 relay. He took second place in all three of those events at the MIAA Division 4 State Championship Meet.

Paytah Dill, Nauset

Dill was a senior captain for the Warriors this season, and was named the Cape and Islands League Co-MVP after helping lead Nauset to an undefeated season and a team title. He set the school record in the long jump (20’9.25”), and also claimed the Cape and Islands League long jump title. He was also a member of the Nauset 4x50 hurdle team that set the Massachusetts Relay Meet record with a 26.87.

Isaiah Robinson, Nauset

Robinson was a versatile member of the Warriors team and competed on both the track, and field sides. He holds the school record in the Pentathlon, and is also a member of the 4x50 and 4x55 shuttle hurdle relay teams that hold school records, and the 4x200 team as well. At the Cape and Islands League Championship Meet, he took second place in the 55m hurdles, while also finishing second in the shot put (36’ 10.5”), and third in the long jump.

Lucas Dehelean, Mashpee

Dehelean said his favorite memory of the season was, "placing third and medaling for the 600m at the South Shore League meet." The senior is also a member of the Falcons soccer team, is a lifeguard, and is a member of the National Honor Society, Environment Club, and Red Cross Youth Club.

Tyler Theodore, Mashpee

The Falcons senior said his favorite memory of the season was, "qualifying for states in the 600m and 1000m with my teammate." Theodore is the Vice President of his class, and he's also an algebra tutor. The senior plans to attend a four-year university and study Biochemistry.

Connor Bruni, Sandwich

Bruni said his favorite moment of the season was when he won a medal as a part of the Blue Knights 4x800 relay team. He picked that win because, "we were by far the underdogs of the race and we jumped two places to end up winning the medal." Bruni said he wants to stay in the area for college, and plans to major in Accounting and minor in Entrepreneurship.
