A missing student from the University of Texas at Dallas has been found dead off campus, according to authorities.

The UT Dallas Police Department confirmed the discovery of Andrew Zhou Li’s body in a news release published Saturday.

The 20-year-old was last seen at his on-campus apartment around 6 p.m. local time on Feb. 24, according to a previous news release from police.

Li’s body “was not found on campus,” according to police, who believe there is currently “no threat to the campus community.” An investigation into his death is ongoing.

“We all grieve with Andrew’s family and friends at this sorrowful outcome,” UT Dallas Police wrote. “We offer our sincere condolences to all who knew him.”

Ai Ping Zhou, Li’s mother, said she tried contacting her son Feb. 24, but the college sophomore did not respond or open her messages, according to local ABC affiliate WFAA. Friends did not find Li in his room either, she added.

Li’s wallet was not found in his room after campus police gained entry, however, Zhou told CBS affiliate KTVT that her son’s cell phone, backpack and laptop were still in his room.

“This is pretty unusual,” UT Dallas Police Lieutenant Adam Perry told the station shortly after Li was reported missing. “This is not something we are used to.”

Counseling services have been made available for students, faculty and staff on-campus, UT Dallas Police said.
