Police: Bethel man dies following head-on collision between van, pickup truck
A man has died following a head-on collision that occurred last week in Bethel, according to Bethel police.
Officers say around 11 a.m. on March 18, they were dispatched to the 300 block of W. Plane St. for a crash involving a van and a pickup truck.
Police say, according to witnesses and evidence at the scene, the van crossed over into the oncoming lane of travel and struck the pickup truck head on.
Both drivers were alert and speaking with officers at the scene, police say.
Officials say the driver of the van, 87-year-old William Reid of Bethel, was taken to UC Medical Center with serious injuries.
Reid died as a result of his injuries on March 22.
Police say the driver of the truck was transported to Mercy Clermont and released a short time later.
Authorities say both Reid and the driver of the truck were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash.
Bethel police say the crash is still under investigation and asks anyone who may have information to contact the department at 513-734-2256.
