The Bachelorette Season 21: The Leading Lady Was Just Announced During the Bachelor Finale

And your new Bachelorette is…Jenn Tran!

Following the latest Bachelor finale, which saw Joey Graziadei get engaged to Kelsey Anderson, it was up to host Jesse Palmer to reveal the franchise's next leading lady during the After the Final Rose special. At the live taping, it was announced that 26-year-old Jenn Tran would be handing out her own batch of roses next season.

“This experience is absolutely crazy, and all I can hope is for [the men] to really open up their heart to this because that's what I did and I got so much out of it,” said Tran, per People. “You know, it didn't end the way that I wanted to, but I grew and I learned so much from it…. I really hope that they ready to have some frickin’ fun.” The physician's assistant student was eliminated during week seven of Graziedei's season.

Tran will also make history as the first Asian American Bachelorette in the franchise's 20 seasons. “I feel so so grateful and so honored to be the first Asian bachelorette in this franchise,” she said. “And now to be here today saying in this position being like I am going to lead my own love story, I am going to be the main character in my story—like, I just can't help but think of how many people I'm inspiring.”

According to a press release from ABC, “Tran is a sweet and compassionate woman who has dedicated her life to helping others and is currently studying to become a physician assistant. The bilingual Vietnamese beauty currently resides in Miami and is ready to find love with a man who’s as reliable and thoughtful as she is. When she’s not studying, Tran loves reading, paddleboarding, and traveling whenever she has the chance.”

Before the finale Bachelor Nation was largely torn between two possible options for The Bachelorette: 25-year-old Daisy Kent and 29-year-old Maria Georgas. Daisy, who made it all the way to the final two, appeared to be the more conventional choice for the franchise, though fans were not certain if she would be too busy planning a wedding with Joey to take on the role. Now we know that's not the case.

Daisy had been an early favorite for her bubbly disposition and disinterest in the drama happening inside the mansion. It was clear to viewers that she was truly there for Joey, and fans were moved by her personal story. During the show the Minnesota native opened up about her battles with Lyme disease and Ménière’s disease, which resulted in profound hearing loss. In August, Daisy released a children's book called Daisy Doo: All the Sounds She Knew, which follows a little girl's journey rediscovering her favorite sounds through a cochlear implant.

On the other end of the Bachelor spectrum was Maria Georgas, who became a fan favorite for a completely different reason. Unlike Daisy, Maria was at the center of most of the in-house drama, though fans largely agreed that she was unfairly targeted by fellow contestants Sydney, Lea, and Jess. Instead of being painted as the villain, fans went wild for Maria's refusal to cave to bullying throughout the series and her no-bullshit responses during the Women Tell All special.

Now that the results are in, we're excited to watch the next step on Jenn Tran's journey to finding love on The Bachelorette. Hopefully, we'll see Daisy and/or Maria on the next season of Paradise (if there even is one).
