A WANTED man has been arrested following a burglary at a football club.

Ringwood Town Football Club reported a break-in to Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary over the weekend.

On March 19, a 36-year-old man from Southampton was arrested on suspicion of several offences concerning the burglary.

Officers raided the suspect's address where they found a safe and till drawer belonging to Ringwood Football Club.

They also discovered post that was linked to a burglary at a nearby postal sorting office.

A spokesperson for Ringwood Police said: “While conducting other enquiries yesterday, a man was arrested on suspicion in relation to a burglary at Ringwood Town Football Club at the weekend.

“Officers had gone to an address in Southampton to try and locate a man for whom there was an outstanding warrant.

“However, when they gained entry to the address, they located a safe and till drawer, which had been reported as stolen from the football club at the weekend.

“We also found post which we believe may have been taken as part of a burglary at a postal sorting office in Ringwood.

“A 36-year-old man from Southampton has been arrested on suspicion of handling stolen goods, burglary, and theft from the person of another.

“He remains in custody at this time.”
