Muda has to start from the bottom if it wants to join Pakatan, says Pahang PKR Youth

KUANTAN: The Malaysian United Democratic Alliance (Muda) must be ready to work its way up if it wishes to join Pakatan Harapan, says the state PKR Youth.

The Pahang PKR Youth wing said Muda and also Parti Sosialis Malaysia’s plan to join the coalition must be conditional.

"If Muda wants to join Pakatan, then it needs to explain clearly the principles and goals of its struggle.

"In addition, Muda as a new party needs to start from the bottom by capturing state assembly and parliamentary seats that have not been won such as those in the east coast, rather than hitching a ride or grabbing seats that have been won by Pakatan," said its information chief Ikhmal Zulkipli.

Muda president Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman recently said that he understood the criticisms lashed out against the party and would deal with these internally.

Among the criticisms was that the party does not add value to Pakatan.

PKR treasurer-general William Leong had reportedly said the coalition's grassroots would be demoralised, having worked tirelessly on the ground but have to hand Muda some constituencies to contest in the 15th General Election.

On another matter, Pahang PKR Youth said its branches in every parliamentary constituency in the state would set up a volunteer machinery to face possible floods during the monsoon season.

It also condemned Umno president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi for insisting on holding the general election in spite of the distress faced by flood victims.

Ahmad Zahid had said his remarks that Barisan Nasional was ready to brave the floods for GE15 were taken out of context by opponents.

He explained that his comments were meant to convey to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob that the Barisan machinery was ready for GE15, regardless of the situation.
