No injuries reported in Long John Silver's fire in Sedalia

No injuries were reported in a Tuesday night fire at the Long John Silver's and A&W Restaurant in Sedalia.

The building sustained significant damage in the kitchen and the roof above the kitchen, as well as significant smoke, heat and water damage throughout the facility, according to a Facebook post from the Sedalia Fire Department.

Dispatchers received reports of the fire at 11:06 p.m. Tuesday, and fire crews found a well-involved fire upon arrival. The fire had breached the roof, and there was heavy fire throughout the kitchen and roof, according to the department. First responders called off-duty crews to assist.

There was hidden fire throughout the building due to the structure's age, and the fire was declared extinguished at 1:46 a.m.

The fire originated in a trash can in the kitchen area, Sedalia Fire Department investigators and the state fire marshal determined.

The department said in a Facebook comment on Thursday that it does not suspect foul play and the fire is being considered accidental.

Nineteen Sedalia fire personnel responded to the fire, according to the department.

The Long John Silver's and A&W is located at 922 S. Limit Ave.
