Juvenile missing since August 2023 found in man's Fairfax County home

An initial investigation revealed the man was in possession of child sexual abuse material. Detectives anticipate additional charges.

MCLEAN, Va. — A man is being held without bond in Fairfax County after police reportedly discovered a missing juvenile from New York inside his home. Police say the girl had been missing since August 2023.

On March 15, detectives with the Fairfax County Police Department were made aware that a missing juvenile from New York may be in the county. An investigation led them to a home in the 7300 block of Sportsman Drive in McLean. Detectives arrived at the house and found the juvenile with Muammer Steve Demir, 20, of McLean. Police learned Demir drove to New York in August 2023 and brought the juvenile girl back to Virginia with him.

Detectives also discovered Demir was in possession of child sexual abuse material.

He was arrested and charged with Carnal Knowledge of a Child and Possession of Child Abuse Material. He was then taken to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center and is being held there without bond.

Police say the juvenile has been reunited with her family.

Additional charges against Demir are anticipated.
