Tennessee basketball can improve its standing for a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament with a win in the SEC Tournament on Thursday.
The No. 1 seed Vols (24-7) open against No. 9 Mississippi State (20-12) at Nashville's Bridgestone Arena on Friday (1 p.m. ET, ESPN). A win would make UT 8-6 in Quad 1 wins as it seeks to hold an edge on North Carolina for the final No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament.
UT lost 77-72 at Mississippi State on Jan. 10. The Bulldogs are the only SEC team that Tennessee did not beat in the regular season.
