ST. LOUIS COUNTY — A teenage girl was critically injured and hospitalized after a fight near Hazelwood East High School late last week, St. Louis County police said Sunday.
Police responded just after 2:30 p.m. Friday to a fight near the intersection of Norgate and Claudine drives in Spanish Lake, a community in north St. Louis County. Officers found a girl suffering from a severe head injury.
On Saturday, police arrested another girl, 15, on suspicion of assault, according to a release. Her name was not released because she is a juvenile.
The Hazelwood School District released a statement Saturday condemning “bullying and fighting in the community” and urging people to “take ownership and work towards a resolution for the sake of our children.”
“The Hazelwood School District offers our sincerest condolences to everyone involved, and will offer additional emotional support from our support and crisis team to those in need,” the statement said.

A graphic video began circulating on social media over the weekend that showed two girls fighting in the middle of a street. By the end, one of the girls was lying on the pavement, severely injured. Police said Sunday they had confirmed the video was authentic through an investigation.
