Denver’s City Park Jazz 2024 summer free concert lineup released

DENVER (KDVR) — City Park Jazz released its 2024 summer concert lineup Wednesday for the 38th annual “celebration of community” festival.

The celebration began in 1986 featuring only local musicians. According to a release from City Park Jazz, the festival will have the same focus on local musicians this year.

The event happens each Sunday from 6-8 p.m., spanning 10 weeks starting June 2. It will feature vendors, food trucks and local musicians.

The concerts are free to the public and will be held at the City Park Pavilion. They feature local musicians with many diverse influences, one of which was nominated for multiple Grammys and another was a semi-finalist in the International Blues Challenge in 2012.

Here is the lineup:

  • June 2: Roka Hueka (Latin Ska)

  • June 9: Stafford Junter & Jazz Explorations

  • June 16: Mistura Fina

  • June 23: ZiMBiRA

  • June 30: Hazel Miller and the collective

  • July 7: JoFoKe & Sam Cloth

  • July 14: Delta Sonics Blues Revue

  • July 21: Denver Jazz Orchestra

  • July 28: Nelson Rangell

  • Aug. 4: Jakarta

Additionally, City Park Jazz said it will pay a special tribute with the Denver Jazz Orchestra to two of its founding board members, Bob Nelson and Tom Quinn, as well as Neil Bridge, a Denver piano legend who died last year.

The event typically brings anywhere from 8,000 to 12,000 people each week, according to City Park Jazz.

This year, it will feature 24 food trucks and musicians performing a diverse array of jazz music including soul, big band, ska, blues, Latin and more. Plus, there is a new biergarten sponsor this year, 4 Noses Brewery.

This year’s collectible T-shirt will be available at concerts while supplies last.

City Park Jazz is still looking for volunteers for the event, though space is limited. Those interested in volunteering or donating can find more information on the website.
