Prince Harry and Meghan Markle seem to have weathered the storm from their royal exit quite well. Yes, there have been a few missteps along the way, but they have emerged thriving and happy in California. Now, their upcoming trip to the U.K. in May has many royal fans curious as to how they will be received.

The Duke of Sussex’s appearance for the Invictus Games 10th Anniversary Service has been confirmed for Wednesday, May 8 while his wife’s attendance still appears to be up in the air, according to the Express. An insider revealed that “the dates and details are being kept very hush-hush,” but it will be a triumphant return for Harry, who has poured his heart and soul into the athletic event — to be here 10 years later is quite an achievement!

DUSSELDORF, GERMANY – SEPTEMBER 16: Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex are seen during the closing ceremony of the Invictus Games Düsseldorf 2023 at Merkur Spiel-Arena on September 16, 2023 in Duesseldorf, Germany.

“Both Harry and Meghan are listed as guests and a speech has been scheduled, but there is still a question mark over whether Meghan will make an appearance,” the source continued. “Her name has been penciled in as a TBC (to be confirmed).” The last time Meghan was seen in the U.K. was for Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral in September 2022 as the family feud ramped up ahead of Prince Harry’s memoir release. If she joined her husband on this trip, it would be for much happier circumstances.

The insider considers it “a very important part” of the “rehabilitation” for their image across the pond. “It’s viewed as an important event that is almost on par with what a working royal would undertake,” they added. “It’s a worthy cause where Harry is the key ambassador, and it will be a good starting point for the Sussexes to repair relations with the royal family and the British people at the same time.”

If the trip is successful, it could pave the pathway for the Invictus Games to return to the U.K. in 2027. The British government has been trying to woo him with a heavy investment. “It feels like a natural rounding of the circle to come back to the UK and we’re going to do everything we can to win the bid,” Johnny Mercer, the minister for veterans’ affairs, told The Times last month. The Sussexes’ critics said their return would never happen, but the couple may be able to make their mark in their own way with the Invictus Games.
