On November 10, People's newest Sexiest Man Alive Chris Evans revealed that he has been dating 26-year-old actress Alba Baptista for at least a year and “it's serious,” according to a source, who added,“They are in love, and Chris has never been happier. His family and friends all adore her.”
In January 2023, a source reiterated that to Us Weekly, describing them as having “gotten serious.” On Valentine's Day 2023, Evans himself shared a very public look inside their private relationship. He posted a video of photos from time together to honor his girlfriend.
And in September 2023, the couple quietly got married, People reported.

Who is Alba Baptista?
The actress is best known for her role on Netflix's Warrior Nun, her English-language debut.
Baptista is from Portugal and was born in Lisbon. She has starred in several popular Portuguese films and TV shows, including A Impostora, Filha da Lei, A Criação, and Jogo Duplo. After Warrior Nun, she starred in the 2022 dramatic comedy, Mrs. Harris Goes to Paris.
Outside of acting, she has a passion for charity work and in 2018, worked at an orphanage in Cambodia focusing on education. She also speaks five languages, including Spanish, French, German, English, and her native Portuguese.
How long have Chris Evans and Alba Baptista been together?
The almost a year estimate is partially based on some fan detective work. The couple follows each other on Instagram, though they haven't yet gone “Instagram official” by sharing photos of each other. Cosmopolitan reported that Baptista's mom used the same pumpkins seen on Evans' Instagram as her profile photo for the social media platform, tipping off the sleuths. He has also been liking all of Baptista's photos since October 13, as well as a few back-dated ones from July of this year and August of 2021.
How serious are they?
In his interview for the Sexiest Man issue, Evans didn't get too specific about who he wanted to settle down with, but he did talk about wanting to take things further in his romantic relationships than he has so far.
“That's absolutely something I want: wife, kids, building a family,” Evans said. “When you read about most of the best artists, whether it's actors, painters, writers, most of them [admit] it wasn't the work they made [that they are most proud of], it was about the relationships; the families they created, the love they found, the love they shared.”
He continued, “So it's also something through my long 41 years that also rings true. Those things are the most important. I love the idea of tradition and ceremony. I had a lot of that in my life, so the idea of creating that—I can't think of anything better.”
Later in January 2023, a source told Us Weekly that he and Baptista were very serious as a couple. “Chris and Alba have gotten serious,” the source said. “This is the most committed anyone can remember him being in a very long time, if not ever.”
“They spend most of their time at his place in Massachusetts and love the quiet life there, surrounded by nature and away from the spotlight,” the source added. “Chris was very open that he wanted to take his time before settling down.”
When did Evans and Baptista get married?
People reported that Evans and Baptista got married at a private estate in Cape Cod over the weekend of September 9 and 10, 2023. Evans’ Marvel co-stars were seen at the ceremony, including Robert Downey Jr., Chris Hemsworth, in addition to actors John Krasinski and Emily Blunt. The couple’s reps did not immediately confirm the wedding news.
That doesn't mean it's a secret. On Friday, October 13, Evans appeared at New York Comic Con 2023 at the Javits Center. In photos, his wedding band is very apparent.
This was his first official appearance since their wedding. During his appearance he discussed their two ceremonies.
“I got married,” Evans stated. “It was really, really great. We kinda had two ceremonies. We had one on the East Coast. We did one in Portugal. My wife’s Portuguese. Yeah, go Portugal!”
He went on to say about the two events, “They were wonderful and beautiful. It’s a lot planning a wedding. For those you who are married, it takes a lot out of you...Now that we’re through that, we’ve just kinda been enjoying life, gearing up for autumn, my favorite season. It’s, like, the best time of year right now. Now we’re just relaxing and enjoying life and reflecting.”
Was there be a second wedding ceremony in Europe?
It was only rumored at first, per Page Six. The outlet reported on September 12 that the couple would be having a ceremony in Portugal. “There is going to be a second gathering in Portugal for members of Alba’s family who couldn’t be in Massachusetts,” a source said. “Sometime this week, I believe. Then they’ll depart from Portugal for their honeymoon.”
And evans confirmed it himself in mid-October at Comic Con.
How did their relationship progress?
A source spoke to People on September 11 about how Evans knew quickly after meeting Baptista in Europe that she was the woman with whom he wanted to build a life.
Evans “has been ready to settle down for a while. He can’t wait to have a family. He was just waiting for the right girl,” the source said. Baptista “is beautiful, smart and just a good person. She is involved in charity work and truly cares about doing good. She is a very positive and happy person. It’s rubbed off on him. It's the best news that they are married.”
“They got serious very quickly,” the source said of their relationship.“He kept saying he knew she was the one.”
“[He] has been the happiest since they met,” the source added. “[She is] everything to him.”

Yes. A source told Entertainment Tonight on September 13, 2023, “Chris has been in love with Alba for a while. They share a special connection and are so happy to be husband and wife. Chris is in a really great place in his life. He feels happy with his career and was ready to settle down. He’s thrilled about this new chapter and is so excited to have a family with Alba one day.”

Has Evans talked about Baptista in any interviews?
Evans has kept their relationship mostly private. He did discuss Baptista briefly in his September 2023 GQ interview, when explaining why he has been acting less.
In 2022, he worked nonstop on three different movies, something he regrets. The couple were photographed making their first public appearance together at Scarlett Johansson and Colin Jost’s Christmas party on Thursday, December 21, at the Flatiron Room. The pictures were shared by Page Six, who spoke with a source who said, “They looked inseparable and he seemed to be a gentleman and very protective of her...He quickly grabbed for her hand the second they left.”

On Friday, March 8, Baptista and Evans were seen leaving Sunset Tower Hotel in West Hollywood, after attending talent agency CAA's pre-Oscars party. The couple were holding hands as they headed out, with the 26-year-old actress wearing a white dress that hugged her figure with an off-the-shoulder neckline and a tie front. She had her hair down, and wore a white choker around her neck and platform heels. Evans was wearing glasses and dressed in a white button-down shirt and gray pants with brown leather shoes.
